Glory To Jesus Christ!  Now and Forever!

Welcome

Holy Resurrection Mission Parish" invites all who are  seeking to enrich their spiritual life with Christ to worship with us by participating in the Holy and Divine Liturgy.  By receiving God's greatest blessing in the Eucharist and through the hearing of His Word proclaimed, we express our thanks "We have seen the true light;  we have received the heavenly Spirit; we have found the true faith; and we worship the undivided Trinity, for the Trinity has saved us."

Now located at 1031 North Central Avenue, Knoxville TN, Holy Resurrection Byzantine Catholic Mission was established in 1999 through the efforts of the Archeparchy of Pittsburgh and the personal commitment of Fr. Thomas P. O'Connell, a priest of the Diocese of Knoxville, who has received faculties in the Byzantine Ruthenian Rite. Several families from the East Tennessee area were instrumental in the development of the "Mission Parish" and remain faithful and dedicated to the growth of the community. Fr. Deacon Ronald J. Volek ,ordained in 1977 in the Cleveland Diocese, has also been serving the mission since receiving faculties from Metropolitan Archbishop Basil (of eternal memory) in 2005.

  • "The Year of Faith"
During this special year, believers around the world are called to renew their faith committment that is "always the same, yet the source of ever new light."  Pope Benedict XVI has proclaimed a "Year of Faith" beginning October 11, 2012 and concluding on November 24, 2013.
The start of the "Year of Faith" coincides with the anniversaries of two great events that have marked the life of the Church:  the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council and the 20th anniversary of the publication of the "Catechism of the Catholic Church."
"The Year of Faith" is a time to reflect on the gift of faith, deepen our knowledge and understanding of Church teaching, grow closer to the Holy Scriptures, nourish our faith through the Holy Mysteries of the Church, and to practice evangelization opportunities.
Resources for the Byzantine community can be found in the monthly issues of the Byzantine Catholic World (BCW) and also viewing the online copies of the BCW.
